We all love our ninja blenders,  However, I am sure at one point or another during usage you have wondered Is my ninja blender dishwasher safe or how to clean a ninja blender.  I am pretty sure this question has come up after whipping up a batch of hummus or nut butter and you are staring at the mess you have made.  I am sure the problem is compounded even more if you have numerous blender attachments that come with your ninja blender.

A short answer to your question is yes your ninja blender is dishwasher safe.  However, that being said you cannot put the whole unit in the dishwasher.  We are referring to the part where the blender motor is located.  This part of the ninja blender cannot be put in a dishwasher.  As a matter of fact, it should not be submerged in any liquids. This applies to other brands of blenders such as Vitamix, Nutribullet, Oster, etc.

So, you have made a total mess trying out that new hummus or nut butter recipe.  Here is a step-by-step breakdown of how to clean your ninja blender.  Here are a few steps you can take to have your Ninja blender looking brand new:

  • Turn off the unit and unplug the base before cleaning.  Wipe the base with a clean, damp cloth.  Do not use abrasive pads, cloths, or brushes to clean the blender base.
  • You can hand wash the blender parts.  To wash the container use warm soapy water with a soft cloth.
  • You can wash the blade assembly in warm, soapy water using a dishwashing utensil with a handle to avoid direct contact with the blades.  Be careful when handling the blade assembly since the blades are sharp.  Make sure you thoroughly rinse and air-dry all parts.
  • Alternatively, you can put the blender parts in your dishwasher.  All attachments are dishwasher safe.  It is recommended that you put the lid, container, and blade assembly on the top rack of the dishwasher only.  
  • Make sure you remove the blade assembly from the blender container before placing it in the dishwasher.   Be careful when handling the blade assembly.
  • The ninja blender can also clean itself.  Simply squeeze 2-3 drops of soap into the jar, fill halfway with warm water and pulse 5-10 times, and then rinse the jar.

The first thing you need to do is remove the lid.  Turn off the unit and plug out the unit.  To remove the lid, press the release button and lift the handle.  You can then either hand wash the blender lid or put the blender lid in the top rack of your dishwasher.

The first thing you need to do is turn off and unplug the blender.  Do not attempt to remove the blender container while the blade is still spinning.  Secondly, remove the blender assembly blade. To remove the pitcher from the motor base, turn the pitcher counterclockwise and then lift it up.

Once you have removed the container you can hand wash the unit with soap and a soft cloth or place the pitcher in the top rack of the dishwasher.
