How do you Deep Clean a Vitamix?
If your machine has a pre-programmed Clean setting, perform the following steps:
- After each use, rinse the container thoroughly with warm water—not hot.
- Place one to two drops of dish soap in your container and fill it halfway with warm water.
- Secure the lid with the lid plug in the locked position.
- Select the Clean setting and start the machine.
- Your machine will automatically turn off when the cycle is complete.
- Pour contents out and rinse thoroughly.
- Turn the container upside down and let air dry.
If your machine does not have a Clean setting, perform the following steps:
- After each use, rinse the container thoroughly with warm water—not hot.
- Place one to two drops of dish soap in your container and fill it halfway with warm water.
- Secure the lid with the lid plug in the locked position.
- Start the machine on Variable Speed 1, slowly increase to Variable Speed 10, and then switch to High.
- Run-on High for 30-60 seconds.
- Pour contents out and rinse thoroughly.
- Turn the container upside down and let air dry.
For a deep clean, perform the following steps monthly or as needed:
Place 4 cups of cool water and 4 cups of white vinegar into the container and let it soak for about four hours. Pour contents out and rinse thoroughly. Then follow the appropriate cleaning instructions above.
Is Vitamix E320 Dishwasher Safe?
Here is what you can do to clean your Vitamix e320 model. This is what Vitamix states in its user manual.
BEFORE FIRST USE:
- Wipe the base with a warm damp cloth and wipe clean with a dry, soft cloth. Wash the container, lid, lid plug, and tamper with warm, soapy water. Rinse all parts. Wipe dry with a dry, soft cloth.
- Choose a space on the counter that is level, dry, and clean. Plug the blender into a grounded, 3-prong outlet. Note: Your Vitamix container is designed to be completely cleanable without removing the retainer nut and blade assembly.
DO NOT attempt to remove the retainer nut or blade assembly from the container. Our Normal Cleaning and Sanitizing procedures or a dishwasher cleaning cycle will ensure complete and thorough cleaning of your container and its components.
Follow these instructions if you prefer not to wash your container in the dishwasher. To Clean the LP64 Container do the following:
- Fill the container half full with warm water and add a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid.
- Snap or push the complete 2-Part lid into the locked position.
- Press Start / Stop. Slowly increase variable speed to 10.
- Run the machine for 30 to 60 seconds.
- Rotate the Variable Speed dial back to Variable 1. Press Start/Stop.
- Rinse and drain all pieces.
- To Sanitize the 64 LP Container using Bleach do the following:
- Follow the cleaning instructions above.
- Fill the container half full with water and 1½ teaspoons of liquid bleach.
- Snap or push the complete 2-part lid into the locked position.
- Rotate the dial clockwise to Variable Speed 1.
- Press Start / Stop. Slowly increase variable speed to 10.
- Run the machine for 30 to 60 seconds.
- Rotate the Variable Speed dial back to Variable 1. Press Start/Stop.
- Allow mixture to stand in the container for an additional 1 ½ minutes.
- Pour bleach mixture out. Allow container to air dry. Do not rinse after sanitizing.
To Sanitize the 64 LP Container using Vinegar do the following:
- Follow the cleaning instructions above.
- Prepare the vinegar solution: for the 64oz container, dilute 16oz. (473 ml) of vinegar in 16oz (473ml) water.
- Snap or push the complete 2-part lid into the locked position.
- Begin with Variable Speed 1 on the display. Press Start/Stop.
- Slowly increase variable speed to 10.
- Run the machine on variable speed 10 for 2 full minutes.
- Rotate the Variable Speed dial back to Variable Speed 1. Press Start/Stop.
- Allow mixture to stand in the container for an additional 3 full minutes. The total contact time of the vinegar solution in the container should equal 5 minutes.
- Pour vinegar solution out of the container over the inside surface of the 2-part lid. Repeat the sanitization procedure a second time (steps 2-9).
- Allow container and lid to air dry. Do not rinse after sanitizing. If necessary, rinse immediately before the next use.
- Pour bleach mixture out. Allow container to air dry. Do not rinse after sanitizing.
NOTE: Lids, Lid Plug, Centering Pad, Tamper, Tamper Holder and Blade Scraper All parts listed above are dishwasher safe. If preferred, wash the parts in warm soapy water. Rinse clean under running water, then dry
Is Vitamix 5200 Dishwasher Safe?
Here is what you can do to clean your Vitamix 5200 model. This is what Vitamix states in its user manual.
To prepare your new machine for initial use, follow the steps under Normal Cleaning below. This will clean the unit, and break in the motor. Normal Cleaning:
- Fill the container half full with warm water and add a couple of drops of liquid dishwashing detergent to the container.
- Snap or push the complete 2-part lid into a locked position.
- Select variable speed 1. Turn the machine on and slowly increase speed to variable speed 10, then to High.
- Run the machine at high speed for 30 to 60 seconds.
- Turn off the machine, and rinse and drain the container.
To Sanitize your Vitamix do the following:
- Follow the normal cleaning instructions above.
- Fill the container half full with water and 1 1/2 teaspoons of liquid bleach.
- Snap or push the complete 2-part lid into a locked position.
- Select variable speed 1. Turn the machine on and slowly increase speed to variable speed 10, then to High.
- Run the machine at High speed for 30 to 60 seconds.
- Turn off the machine, and allow the mixture to stand in the container for an additional 1 1/2 minutes.
- Pour bleach mixture out. Allow container to air dry.
- Do not rinse after sanitizing. Lid And Lid Plug: Separate the lid and lid plug. Wash in warm soapy water. Rinse clean under running water, and dry. Reassemble before use.
IMPORTANT: To ensure continued and effective performance, do not put the container, lid, or lid plug in the dishwasher.
