What Type of Matcha to Use In Your Smoothie

Matcha tea can be quite pricey so it’s good to know a bit about the different types of match tea.  There are two main types of matcha tea, ceremonial grade, and culinary grade.  Below you will find a brief overview of the two types of matcha tea.

Ceremonial Grade:  Ceremonial grade matcha tea is more expensive than culinary grade matcha tea.  This tea is of a higher quality than culinary-grade matcha tea.  This matcha in ceremonial grade matcha consists of the most carefully cultivated buds and leaves.  Ceremonial matcha is really meant to be enjoyed on its own without any other additives.

Culinary Grade:  Culinary grade matcha tends to be cheaper than ceremonial grade matcha.  This type of matcha is usually used in cooking and smoothies.   This type of matcha has a more robust astringent flavor.

How To Make a Matcha Smoothie

When you are making a matcha smoothie you can follow the following procedure.  Firstly add the liquid, secondly, add the fruits and vegetables, and thirdly add the matcha powder and any other add-ins such as nut butter, yogurt, chia seeds, or flaxseeds.

If you like a strong matcha flavor in your smoothie adjust the amount of matcha you use in the smoothie.  Additionally, if you want to thicken your matcha smoothie you can use items such as frozen fruit, ice, yogurt, or an avocado.

Matcha Avocado Smoothie

This is a great combination of green goodness with a combination of matcha and avocado.   This matcha avocado smoothie is a healthy way to start the day or as a mid-day snack.  The main ingredients in this smoothie are avocado, matcha, almond milk, and banana.  If the banana does not provide enough sweetness you can add maple syrup.

Creamy Banana Matcha Smoothie

This matcha recipe is easy to prepare with only 4 ingredients: matcha, banana, non-dairy milk, and maple syrup as a sweetener.  If you want to give this recipe an extra burst of flavor you can add vanilla extract.  You can also add spinach or kale for an extra nutritional boost.

Wild Blueberry Vanilla Matcha Smoothie

This smoothie is great as a quick breakfast or post-workout smoothie.  The wild blueberries and bananas combine well with the matcha green tea powder.  The vanilla extract adds extra flavor. For this smoothie recipe, you can use vanilla soy, oat, or almond milk.

Mango Matcha Smoothie

I love using mangoes in my smoothies; they provide a sweet distinct flavor.  This mango matcha smoothie is a great way to start the day with the addition of mangoes, matcha, frozen broccoli, and plant-based milk.  I love smoothies that utilize frozen vegetables such as broccoli or cauliflower yet provide a fruity, delicious flavor.  This smoothie ticks all the boxes.

Coconut Matcha Smoothie

I love coconut-flavored products and I’m an especially big fan of using coconuts in my smoothies.  They provide a distinct flavor and make a smoothie thick and creamy.  The addition of pineapples and bananas makes you think of the tropics.

Pineapple Matcha Vanilla Smoothie

I think pineapples are one of the best fruits to use in smoothies so I a not surprised that pineapples feature prominently in this smoothie recipe.  This smoothie recipe is great for a healthy and flavor-packed breakfast or a mid-afternoon snack.  The main ingredients are pineapple, matcha, kale, greek yogurt, and non-dairy milk.

Strawberry Matcha Smoothie

I don’t know about you, but the thought of strawberries automatically brings a smile to my face.  This smoothie is a great mid-afternoon snack if you want an extra burst of energy.  This simple but delicious smoothie contains strawberries, cashew milk, goji berries, and matcha.

This smoothie looks so beautiful that you are not going to want to drink it.  The two layers in the smoothie will make your smoothie the talk of the town.  The two layers in this smoothie are a matcha layer and a smoothie layer.  The matcha layer consists of matcha powder, vanilla nut milk, and a little monk maple syrup as a sweetener.   The smoothie base consists of zucchini, coconut milk, vanilla nut milk, protein powder, and a little cashew butter.

Morning Mint Matcha Milkshake

One of the main things I like about smoothies is you can make smoothies that taste like a milkshake but they are good for you.  This smoothie fits the bill with the addition of coconut cream and cacao nibs on top of the smoothie.  This smoothie is a great combination of protein, healthy fats, fiber, and superfoods.  An added plus is this smoothie is also vegan.

Chocolate Matcha Smoothie

This smoothie is very deceptive.  When I hear people mention chocolate I always think that can’t be good for you.  However, this smoothie is a healthy version of a chocolate shake.  You get the same thick, creamy, chocolate flavor of a chocolate milkshake, however, this smoothie is nutritionally dense and makes it a great way to start the day.
